Amanda Holden has been a well recognized and much loved face on television for quite some time. She first appeared as a contestant on a game show, but quickly moved on to acquire a large variety of roles. Amanda Holden has been in fictional television series, a host on television, and has performed in musicals on West End. She is also an active supporter of the many causes she believes in, such as Born Free and breast cancer awareness. In addition to the many other things keeping her busy, Amanda Holden is one of the three judges on the reality television show Britain’s Got Talent.

Amanda’s career began with a single unsuccessful episode on Blind Date, a gaming date show with Cilla Black. From there, she moved on to a single episode on the fictional series In Suspicious Circumstances. In 1994, Amanda Holden landed her first decent sized role, playing Carmen for five episodes of the television series EastEnders. Over the next few years, Amanda appeared in a large number of shows. She had a recurring role in We Know Where You Live, Kiss Me Kate, The Grimleys, Hearts and Bones, Celebs, Mad About Alice, Wild at Heart, and Big Top, to name a few.

At the same time that she was appearing on a myriad of television shows, Amanda Holden also starred in a number of live productions. In 1994, she acted in the play Arsenic and Old Lace by Joseph Kesselring. Ten years later, she performed in the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, which was performed at the Shaftesbury Theatre. For her performance in the show, she was nominated for a Best Actress in a Musical, Laurence Olivier Theatre Award. In late 2010 it was announced that Amanda Holden will play the part of Shrek when the musical is shown in West End.

Amanda Holden is most famous as a judge on the show Britain’s Got Talent. The show originally featured Amanda along with Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan, but Piers has since been replaced with Michael McIntyre and David Hasselhoff. Amanda also appears in the series spin-off Britain’s Got More Talent, which takes viewers backstage at the Britain’s Got Talent show. A little bit ago, Amanda appeared as a guest on CBS’s The Early Show and she is now their official British correspondent. Amanda also began to work as a columnist for the magazine Fabulous in July of 2009.

Amanda Holden is more than just a television star; she is someone who uses her fame to bring attention to causes that she feels matter. After her stint on Wild at Heart, Amanda began running on a daily basis and on April 13, 2008, Amanda ran the Flora London Marathon. Her run raised over seven thousand pounds for Born Free. Amanda also wore the Ladies Day pink shirt to help promote the Breast Cancer Campaign. Last but not least, she bitterly complained when a supermarket tried to open in her hometown, stating that it would cause the local village shops to lose business.
